Ways to Serve

"Direct my footsteps according to your word..."
Psalm 119:133a

Where do our footsteps go? Are our footsteps stationary, tentative, steady, or bold? What is our direction? We have sought the Lord and His word for direction.

Sometimes our footsteps have been tentative, sometimes steady and bold. Despite our human failings we can trust that our Lord will never fail us. He walks the road with us because of his love for us.

Our Missionaries

Covenant Missionaries

Byron and Susan Bruckner--

Covenant missionaries in Alaska, focusing on youth ministries.  Many native leaders have been taught and have been brought into leadership roles through Byron's influence.

Cathy Campobello--

Covenant missionary in Colombia since 1990.  Besides church planting, Cathy is involved with Covenant Kids, a multifaceted children's ministry.

Jay and Ellen Haworth--

Covenant missionaries in Japan, focusing on church planting and evangelism since 1983.

Paul and Gretchen DeNeui--

Covenant missionaries in Thailand since 1987.  Paul and Gretchen have developed new and innovative ways to enrich lives and introduce people to our Lord and Savior.  The DeNeuis teach other missionaries how to reach people within the context of their own culture.

Fred and Kelly Prudek--

Covenant missionaries to the Czech Republic.  We have supported them since 1999.  Fred is involved with pastoral training and leadership development.  Kelly is involved with women's Bible studies, prayer groups and small groups.

Other Missionaries

Sarah Page--

Missionary with TEAM.  We have supported Sarah Page since she first started as a TEAM missionary to France almost 30 years ago.  Sarah serves in churches, women's ministries, evangelistic speaking engagements and itinerant teaching ministry.

Pastor Fohle Lygunda--

Mission Center in the Heart of Africa.  Pastor Fohle is President of this organization that trains fellow Africans of many denominations to become missionaries in their own country.

Roberta Peabody--

Missionary with TEAM in Japan.  We have supported her since she first started on this mission field.

Dr. Jennifer Hall--

CBI missionary (Conservative Baptist organization) to the Ivory Coast.  Dr. Hall is from East Bridgewater and was a local M.D. in Brockton before fulfilling her life-long dream of serving God as a missionary.

Other organizations that we assist:

COVENANT WORLD RELIEF

Provides relief to suffering people all over the world.  The congregation supports CWR generously through contributions and by participation in our annual Soupfest each November.

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD

Each fall church members and friends fill shoeboxes with Christmas gifts for children in troubled areas of the world.  This is a ministry through Franklin Graham's Samaritan's Purse.  We have participated in Operation Christmas Child since 1977.

NEW ENGLAND SEAFARER’S MISSION

This organization assists seafarers in New England ports who are usually foreigners working on cruise ships hundreds of miles from home.  We support New England Seafarer's Mission financially and by sending volunteers into Boston a few times a year to assist with the ministry.

HOMELESS MINISTRIES

This church has participated in two different ministries to the homeless. We have sent volunteers to serve at St. Paul’s soup kitchen in Brockton. People from this church have participated in a training session for homeless ministry provided by Starlight Ministries. Starlight serves the homeless in Boston, and is truly the gold standard of how street ministry is done.

TEEN CHALLENGE

This ministry helps young men addicted to drugs and alcohol, and has a very high success rate compared to other rehab programs.  We support Teen Challenge financially.

ANGEL TREE

In 2001 we began supporting this Prison Fellowship program of providing children of prisoners with Christmas gifts over the holidays.  It has been very well received by our congregation and the families of inmates.

SCIENCE WITH A MISSION

This new organization was founded by Alynne MacLean, a member of our Missions Committee.  Alynne is developing testing procedures to diagnose diseases in developing nations.  Because individuals in Third World countries don't have easy access to diagnostic labs, often the time it takes to get a diagnosis can cause critical lapses in treatment time, or misdiagnosis, which can be detrimental.  Medicines for common Third World diseases are available, but without a timely diagnosis lives can be jeopardized.

FAMILY CENTERS IN RUSSIA

Some members of our congregation are supporting a group home for orphans in Russian.

Other Projects

We have assisted other mission organizations whose goal is to serve God and His people with Christian love, compassion, and the gospel message. We have sent blankets to Sudan. We have sent books to Guatemala. We have supported a women’s release from prison ministry in Chicago. We have assisted a Christian school in Prague damaged by the great flood there.   We have attended seminars to expand our world view of the World Christian movement.

Other programs we support are:
Friends of World Mission, Pilgrim Pines, Mission Friends, and H.E.L.P.

All of our missionaries and our programs are covered with prayer.
Through prayer we can become co-workers with the Lord.
Prayer is not an optional extra, or a last resort.
Prayer is fundamental in the Kingdom of God.

.

"When man works, man works; when man prays, God works."
